Patient Organisations

The Mitsubishi Pharma Group changed its name to The Tanabe Pharma Group on 1st December 2025. All affiliates that previously bore the Mitsubishi Tanabe name changed their names accordingly to remove the Mitsubishi name

The Tanabe Pharma Group may engage with Patient Organisations (POs) the UK. In accordance with the  ABPI Code of Practice. Disclosure of Transfers of Value from Pharmaceutical Companies 2024, details of Transfers of Value made to POs in the United Kingdom by the Tanabe Pharma Group can be found below.

2025 UK BPA Events and Awareness Campaign’s.

MTPA provided BPA with sponsorship to cover the annual BPA Conference, designed by patient advocates where patients and families can meet, learn and share inspiring stories, where there is also a chance to meet informally with medical professionals. Another event the funds will help is the BPA Connect event which is an event that holds peer sessions in a social environment and a relaxes, informal setting. Any reminders sponsorship funding will go towards BPA awareness campaigns which consist of educational materials and the use of various media channels to educate the public about porphyria’s, symptoms and impact on patient and their families, particular awareness campaigns are run on Rare Disease Day and Porphyria Awareness Week.

MTPA held no control, authority or influence as to how these funds were used within the agreed use for events and awareness. However in return for this sponsorship MTPA will benefit, during the events the company logo will be used on information programmes, and placeholder slides throughout the day, any post event publications will also display the company logo in acknowledgement of the sponsorship, members of the global company were also invited to attend the events for free and a representative of the company was invited to speak at the BPA conference, the benefits to MTPA for sponsoring the awareness campaigns were acknowledgement of the sponsorship including use of the company logo on websites, published materials including newsletters and communications, members of the Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma organisation were also invited to partake in a patient advocate learning opportunity

2025 Strategic aims and International Congress on Porphyrins and Porphyria’s (ICPP) Support

MTPA acted as a Corporate sponsor to exclusively fund expenses directly related to five of GPACs 2025 strategic aims and two activities at the ICPP.
ICPP is a biennial event, where leaders of global patient advocacy groups can network, access the latest important updates in research and meet other members of the porphyria community. support includes travel and attendance of three GPAC executives to attend the congress, support will also contribute to the translations of PAG posters and AV displays including awareness videos displayed at the event.
The remainders of this sponsorship will go towards GPAC strategic aims for the year, these projects include communication costs in order to gain support for activities and events including social media management, educational and awareness campaign Global Porphyria Day (GPD) initiatives, Website development which includes additional translations, Educational and professional development of GPAC leadership such as attending 2025 porphyria related conferences, events and symposiums. GPAC also outsource support to ensure skilled personnel are available to develop materials, branding and research in countries where support is needed.



MTPA held no control, authority or influence as to how these funds were used, just an understanding that all funds will be used as per the activities listed above. In return for this sponsorship acknowledgment as a sponsor/supporters to GPAC the GDP promotional videos, toolkits and materials will display the company logo, including post event reporting and acknowledgements. Recognition of support will also be included on GPAC’s website, ICPP posters, annual financial reporting, and agendas posters for annual general meetings.

2025 Fundamental Rights Survey.

MTPA provided sponsorship funds to help with the Fundamental Rights for People with ALS/MND and Caregivers survey 2025, this survey is conducted globally and captures lived experiences, tracks the progress towards fundamental rights and captures research to better understand and provide insights into where fundamental right are being met and where gaps remain and how advocacy can drive change. The funds provided by MTPA were used to share the survey via webinars, presentations and social media, data analysis of the costs and to update documents detailing rights of people with ALS/MND and caregivers.

MTPA held no control, authority or ability to influence the decisions of how the funds were used. in acknowledgement of this funding MTPA benefitted from logo placement on the survey introduction page, recognition in the global survey invitation email to alliance members, early access to survey results, logo placement and recognition on the survey report and reports for statistically significant countries, verbal and visual acknowledgment to survey webinars and presentations relating to the survey results with an opportunity to speak at the webinar and also participate in focus groups as an industry representative.

MTP-CA provided an honorarium fee to a representative of the international Alliance of ALS/MND Associations, this was to support a non-accredited learning program for innovated medicines.

The HCP will act as chair to the OLA using their skills and knowledge to facilitate the discussion between participants. including presenting a 90 minute presentation of How to break the News in ALS/MND.

MTP-CA will have no editorial control over the HCPs presentation and content. the OLA is free from commercial bias and the HCP will provide a balanced view of relevant therapeutic options. MTP-CA benefitted from this as the HCP disclosed to the OLA audience and in presentation materials that financial support had been provided by MTP-CA.

The HCP shall not directly or indirectly advocate or promote the use of any MTP-CA products.
